Life after the witnesses, friends, faith etc
by Theburstbubble inhi everyone, this is my first post so go easy on me :) i have been a witness all of my life (i'm 37) and truly believed it until 3 years ago.
my husband and i had become spiritually weak and over time i began to question more and more until i came to the conclusion that the witnesses were not the true religion but just one of many religions and that if god is there then there are many paths to get to him.
anyway, i've battled with keeping going as my husband still believed and i didn't want to be in a divided household as we have a young daughter and thought it would be very confusing for her (and us).

Welcome!
How have people adapted to life outside the truth? Making friends? Have you found your new friends to be as genuine? How about faith? I feel like I still want to believe in God but don't know even where to begin.
Life goes on regardless. You will find that people that are not JWs also come in varieties. Some are genuine and some are untrustworthy. Just like the Kingdom-Hall. So you pick and choose who you want in your circle.
As far as God is concerned, you have returned to humanity's point of view. No one has or ever had all the answers to the God question. It just that the Watchtower made you believe they had all the answers but in reality they never did.
If there is a God and he is almighty, just, loving, and merciful, you shouldn't have to worry about judgement. If there is no God or he doesn't care, then you shouldn't have to worry either because once we're gone we won't know a thing. So enjoy your life and your family, that's the best thing. Isn't that what the Bible teaches.
(Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13) . . .I have come to know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good during one’s life; and also that every man should eat and indeed drink and see good for all his hard work.. . .

You may want to bring up the fact that there were 3 different 1914 teachings throughout the history of the Watchtower.
- From late 19th century to early 20th century they taught that 1799 was the beginning of the end and the world would end by 1914. No earthquakes or pestilence Matthew 24 was supposed to have been fulfilled during the 1800 year period after Christ. Armageddon was a 40 year period of social collapse between 1874 and 1914. It was to be a slow motion collapse throughout that period culminating in pure social chaos at the end. No earthquake or fireballs etc.1914 was to be the beginning of the Millennium and the beginning of world wide peace.

We have the convention this weekend and many JW families are arriving. One family that I’ve known for many years from New Mexico stopped by to visit my mom. He’s been an elder since the 80s. After the visit, I accompanied them to their vehicle and my mom stayed in the house. Before anyone got inside their vehicles, he shut everyone up and asked me,
“When are you coming back? You’re missing some great spiritual food in this time of the end.” The way he said it, I could tell he was trying to impress his family.
I don’t like confrontations anymore and I try very hard to avoid talking to JWs but I couldn’t help it. I asked him in front of everyone,
“Time of the End, come on, it’s been over 100 years since 1914. You know that Jerusalem wasn’t destroyed in 607-- right? I mean that information is everywhere. Bible Scholars, Bible translators, Archaeologist, Historians, every encyclopedia, every reference book, even your own Watchtower publications teach that 587 BC is the actual date that Jerusalem was destroyed.
He replies, “Well even if everyone is right and the date is 587, that still doesn’t affect the fact that we are living in the last days.
I said, “What do you mean it doesn’t affect you?” If Jerusalem wasn’t destroyed in 607, that means 1914 never happened, it means Jesus never started ruling in 1914, it means Satan wasn’t thrown to the earth in 1914, it means that the last days never started in 1914, and that means we are not living in the last days.
Everyone kept quiet. They didn’t realize the implications of what I was saying. Everyone just kept staring at me and the elder. Finally the elder said, “Well, I’ll have to look into that” I said, “It’s up to you, I mean, I really don’t care if you look it up or don’t. It’s your life, and if you want to go and sit down for three days to listen to the same information you get at the Kingdom Hall, for the next 20 years, that’s your choice.
But I’ve done the research; it took me over a year because it was very hard for me to accept the truth of the matter. It not something you can learn in a couple of hours like studying a Watchtower magazine. It takes lots of time because you can’t believe it at first. It was a shock to me. But then you start seeing all the evidence. There is about 5,000 archaeological business records, legal documents, astronomical diaries, from different parts of the world that name the neo-Babylon kings and how long each one reigned.
The 2011 Watchtower study says you can’t trust these historical records but then they turn around and use these same historical records that they condemned- to prove the year 539 BC. How creepy is that?
And that’s why I’m not going anymore and I’m not worried that I’m going to die at Armageddon because I know we are not living in the last days.
Now I’m not trying to convince you of anything, you asked me a question and I answered it. I’m not asking you to research anything, I’m not telling you the Watchtower is false, I’m just telling Why I’m not going to conventions and meetings anymore. If you decide to research 607, don’t call me. There is plenty of information in any reference book. If you want to know where 607 came from you can read the whole story in a book called, “The Gentile Times Reconsidered” It’s actually free in the internet if you don’t want to buy it.
You should have seen everyone’s eyes.
I said bye and walked away.
BTW these people know the Elder that had sex with an 8 year old girl in Los Lunas New Mexico.
He is still free.

I bet if JW's were in charge of this planet like fundamentalist Muslims are in some countries they would eagerly set about in the systematic slaughter of "the wicked". What a despicable cult!
The rank and file members will let their children die by refusing blood, children will shun their parents for life and parents their children. If the GB ever gave the order to kill those not willing to summit to Jehovah's laws, aka Governing Body's laws, I believe many jws would blindly follow. -

Don't know if it was intended to be comical but I didn't like the talking head thing. It would have been better as an audio with carefully selected still images showing assorted pictures from their literature.
Good Idea. I did find a better one on jwfacts. -

Did anyone here get to hear the talk “You will be with me in Paradise” by Ciro Aulicino in 2007 at the summer convention? I found part of the talk in YouTube.
Oh the memories!!!
Would you believe some elders in my area still believe this and use it in their Sunday Public talks!
Quote by Ciro Aulicino
Jehovah will direct the cataclysmic forces at Armageddon to rejoin all the land masses as they once were before the flood.
Scientists tell us this is the study of Pangea. Connecting the Americas to Asia linking Europe to Britain to Canada to Asia and all the Islands will be joined to one big land mass.
How grateful we are that the Awake magazine has taught us that the Earth was just one big land mass. The flood broke this land mass into Continents and that is why the earth today is divided.
Immediately after Armageddon, Jehovah will use anti-matter to disintegrating the putrefying organisms by all the dead bodies that can cause disease and the Armageddon survivors to get sick.
Aren’t we grateful Jehovah has revealed these events to us ahead of time?
How embarrassing to be a JW at this time.

Remember the two elderly sisters?
by John Aquila inabout a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.
if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.
here is the link.

John - please keep us updated when this actually happens. You've got our hopes up and we're awaiting confirmation!
Will do!
Wonder how many times this scenario plays out all over the world. This CAN NOT be an isolated incident and only adds to the growing body of evidence pointing to Watchtower's cash crisis.
I wondered the same thing. In this case, the Watchtower will never know they lost at least 175,000 to 200,000 dollars. Are those waking up changing their wills to exclude the Watchtower ? I did.

I believe that the greater percentage of JWs-You Will Not Be Able to Help, no Matter What Facts You Show Them.
by John Aquila inso i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.
we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.
but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.

You cannot force them, but don't give up on them.I know that's true, but right now I'm having a hard time wanting to help them. Yet I know I must.
